Our BMO Ride for Cancer community has made history again.
On September 16, riders and donors rallied behind the first-ever NO LIMIT Match Day in the 12-year history of the QEII Foundation’s BMO Ride for Cancer, with every donation matched dollar-for-dollar by the J & W Murphy Foundation.
The result? An astounding $1,008,853 in one-day impact for cancer care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre — and one of the biggest fundraising match days in BMO Ride history.
“What our BMO Ride community and the J & W Murphy Foundation accomplished together is extraordinary,” says Susan Mullin, president and CEO of the QEII Foundation. “The Murphy family gave us an incredible opportunity to dream big and challenge our riders and their supporters to see just how much impact we could create together. More than 1,881 donations later, our community answered that challenge in an unforgettable way. We are tremendously grateful to the J & W Murphy Foundation for their generosity, leadership and belief in transforming cancer care.”
83% FUNDED. ONE FINAL FINISH LINE.
This record-breaking day brings our BMO Ride community another major step closer to completing our final cancer care project of our Grand Finale year.
Thanks to you, 83 per cent of the dollars needed to bring Nova Scotia’s first relocatable MRI funding to the finish line has now been raised.
This innovative, self-contained diagnostic suite will help the QEII deliver more of the critical imaging cancer patients need — increasing MRI capacity, helping scan more patients and supporting earlier cancer diagnoses. It’s a new way of bringing advanced imaging beyond traditional hospital walls and getting patients the answers they need, sooner.
And it will join an incredible legacy of cancer care projects made possible by the QEII Foundation’s BMO Ride for Cancer community.
Already in 2026, riders and donors have helped complete funding for minimal residual disease (MRD) technology to better detect remaining traces of cancer after treatment, as well as BreastCancerPEP, a patient empowerment program and clinical trial that has since launched for breast cancer patients and survivors. Over the past 12 years, BMO Ride has helped fund more than a dozen cancer care projects at the QEII Cancer Centre — from surgical robotics to first-in-Canada radiation treatment technology and more.
LET’S FINISH WHAT WE STARTED
After 12 extraordinary years, the Grand Finale of BMO Ride for Cancer is almost here.
We’ve made history, we’ve crossed milestone after milestone and, now, with 83 per cent of our final project funded, we need this momentum to keep going.
