Our BMO Ride for Cancer team has been working closely with the Trail Associations since the devastating flash flooding that our province experienced earlier this summer. Unfortunately, a portion of the St. Margaret’s Bay trail from Station Road to Island View Drive will not be repaired in time for our event and will remain closed.
As a result, all 75km trail and 100km trail riders have been automatically reassigned to the 50km trail route. This portion of the trail has been repaired and is deemed safe for riders. This information was shared with all 75km trail and 100km trail participants via email and text on Saturday, September 9.
It’s important to note that these are the only two event distances that are impacted. Our six remaining routes – 25km trail, 50km trail, 75km road, 100km road, 130km road and 160km road – are all proceeding as planned.
These changes to our 75km trail and 100km trail routes are disappointing for our BMO Ride team and participants – but we will persevere and ride proud for local cancer care on Saturday, September 23.
The safety of our riders and our community continues to be our top priority, and managing the safety and risk associated with these changes is something we are taking very seriously.
If you have any questions about these changes, please reach out to us via email at info@yourrideforcancer.ca.
